Security Enhancements - 2048-bit Root Upgrade

In accordance with industry-wide trends to increase security, VeriSign—including GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSL—will no longer sell certificates issued from roots using root keys under 2048-bit. You don’t need to do anything for existing certificates, but this will affect new certificates, so read on. Customer certificates will no longer be issued directly from the root found in the user's trusted issuing authority, but from a newly created intermediate root. These chained hierarchies are a security best practice, already in use for Thawte® SGC Supercerts, and all VeriSign EV products. This change will take effect on June 27 for Thawte products, July 22 for GeoTrust, and in October for VeriSign.
